At Hickory Hill, music and our arts & crafts programs are all designed to develop creativity and imagination in your artists. We believe that early exposure to art, music and dance is the foundation to a lifetime appreciation of the arts. It's a fun way to grow.

We would be pleased to have you come in and discuss questions you might have or feel free to contact us on our web form.

nature activities at Hickory Hill

Our nature/science program is a fun and educational.
The best part is that the children are learning and having fun doing it!!!

campers participating in a nature session The children do various science projects throughout the summer. Some favorites are: Volcanoes that will ERUPT, Planters with their own special plants, Bird Houses and making tornadoes! That's just to name a few! The children even get to plant vegetables in our garden at the beginning of the summer and are responsible for watering them during their nature period. These are just some of the activities that the campers will be doing. The boys and girls have Nature three times a week. We feel that this activity should be more than just a project. We want our children to learn the importance of science.

art program at Hickory Hill campers creating arts and crafts projects

We have a fabulous art program at Hickory Hill.

We address each age group differently. We want to address the fine motor skills of all ages and challenge the children at all levels. We want our campers to be able to make their projects on their own with minimal assistance from their counselors. This is their project that they created. We also make projects that the children can actually use. For example we make pillows, pillowcases, dry erase boards, clocks and much, much more. The children have Arts and Crafts 3 times a week. They may come home messy but it will be worth it.

Hickory Hill's music and dance program

Our campers are challenged with different dance moves as our dance specialist teaches hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap and much more.

Our music & dance program meets 3 times per week. Our campers are challenged with different dance moves as our dance specialist teaches hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap and much more. All choreography is geared toward your child’s age group. Our instructor will also play games that incorporate all types of music and dance. The campers will start off this activity by stretching and getting their bodies ready for movement. At the end of the summer we put together an amazing talent show for all families and friends. This showcases all age groups and what they have learned throughout the summer. On this special night, we also bring in a DJ which makes it a fun night for everybody!!

athletics at Hickory Hill

Our athletic program meets every day.

the camp has a climbing wall

All the campers will learn the basic skills of soccer, football, basketball, baseball, field hockey, volleyball and much more. The campers will spend half the period learning the skill and half the period playing the sport. We want all our campers to feel confident in their athletic abilities. We encourage good sportsmanship as our biggest rule to play by!

cooking class

The campers have a blast at cooking.

Our cooking class meets 3 times a week. They are told to come into class and wash their hands before they sit down. The instructor will tell the children what they are making for the day, what food group it falls into and discuss if it is a healthy item. The children will prepare, mix, measure and pour. The instructor will do all the actual cooking. The children will do all the actual EATING!!! I always wondered if the boys and girls liked cooking because it was fun or because they got to eat some great and delicious food??? The campers also get to take home a recipe book at the end of the summer... TOP TEN Hickory Hill RECIPES!

Swimming at Hickory Hill
campers swim twice a day

Our campers will swim 2 times per day.

They will meet once in the morning for instructional swim and once in the afternoon for free swim. All our campers are tested by our WSI (water safety instructor) on the first day of camp. The children are then placed into swim groups that are appropriate for their swimming ability. They will practice all their swimming during instructional swim. As they improve, they will be tested and move on to higher level group. All campers will receive a Red Cross swimming card at the end of the summer. What level do you think your child will be in??
