Soifa started Kindergarten in Dix Hills yesterday.  She did so fantastic.  I give all the credit to Miss Gail, Miss Jessica, Miss Kathy, Miss Kelly, Miss Shannon, Miss Danielle and the rest of the Hickory Hill staff who all went above and beyond with our daughter.  Sofia was telling us things she did in Kindergarten and she had already experienced and learned them at HIckory Hill, even in the 3 year old program!  We cannot thank you enough!

Sincerely,
Jen and Rob Howard

Brianna went to kindergarten to take her screening test. She was so excited to go! I don't get paper results until the end of June but they told me she scored off the charts!! They said she was amazing! She was quiet but every question they asked her she answered! I was so happy! I have to thank you (Miss Linda) and Hickory Hill for doing such a great job! On Wednesday night I went for a parent orientation where they spoke alittle about the ciriculum for the year-I was pleased because she has already been introduced to most of it at HH! I can't thank you all enough! I love HH and can't wait for my son to start in January!

Sincerely,
Kelly

Hello,

I had a huge "Wow" moment tonight as I unpacked Julie's bookpack.
Tonight we received her pictures, her projects, and a very nice oversized poster with the hands' mark of all children in her class wishing her the best.
It was an amazing experience for Julie. She had a lot of fun, learnt a lot about Halloween and Thanksgiving, and learnt a lot about the american way, language, and generosity.
Considering that she does not speak english, and that she is at an age where friends are so important, I can think about 100 ways this would have been a challenging situation for any teacher.
However Ms Emily has been wonderfull as always, making Julie feels welcome, leveraging her presence in her class for projects and songs and etc ... seizing the opportunity and creating a fun and friendly environment, while educational.
You all went way beyond my expectation
THANK YOU for everything. I am so proud to have shown my cousin what an amazing school Hickory Hill is.

Best Regards,
Caroline - 3 yr old parent

Early every morning I drop off my three kids - usually the first of the day to arrive at the school. Even in the second year of this, my youngest, Rebekah, still has a difficult time saying good-bye and starts to cry - it tore my heart out every moring. However, after the first week or two this year Miss Linda (new to the morning care crew) was able to pick her up and keep her smiling. "Wow!" I thought, "That feels better as I walk out the door." Thanks Miss Linda!

Hi Joy,
I want to say a big thanks to HH and all the great people that work there.  Jesse loves school once again this year and is loving staying after and playing with all his friends.  It is so comforting to know that your child is happy and in good competent hands.

Susan and I would like to thank you guys (and Adam) for being so nice regarding Alexa’s status this week.  You really make complicated situations a lot easier with your understanding and willingness to help.

What can I say that wasn't said last night.  Having two adult children, I've been to many lovely graduations...but being a grandma...and seeing how happy Alexia was last night...was priceless.

In her young life, Alexia has been to quite a few preschools, some of which were not very good for her.  YOURS IS THE BEST BY FAR!  It's wonderful coming to pick her up, seeing the joy in her little face.  I've said it before to you~it's all because of you.
I'm leaving on my business trip today with the most wonderful memories of last night's "spectacular".
Thanks again for all of you being the most caring and dedicated caregivers you can be for all these little ones.

Gail,

Thank you for the pictures… more importantly thank you for all you have done & given to Jaidan over the past 1 ½ yrs.  She was very lucky to have you as her teacher.  She has grown up so much under your watch and care.

Every parent hopes their child is fortunate enough to have a teacher such as yourself.

Thank you again.

Regards

When our son Jack started school, in September, at Hickory Hill he was 2 ½ years old.  He had no interest in potty training.  By mid-October, on a Friday afternoon, we received a letter home from Miss Laura and Miss Kim requesting that we send Jack to school in underwear because he “uses the toilet at school.”  We were shocked.  Jack showed no signs of potty training at home.  However, we obeyed and sent Jack to school in underpants that Monday.  He never wore diapers again! We couldn’t believe it-with absolutely no effort on our part- Miss Laura and Miss Kim completely potty trained our child.
This is just one example of the many wonderful things that they have taught Jack.

Miss Jody and her team – Brooke’s project from yesterday (her face on the cover and all about her and family) is something we will keep forever. What a project!!!

We had a "WOW" moment.  A few nights ago, I started to read Sofia her nightly bedtime story.  I opened the book.  Sofia asked who the author was.  I told her.  Then she asked, "Mommy, who is the illustrator?"  I was blown away!  What 3 and a half year old knows who an illustrator is?!  I asked her how she knew about "illustrators."   She said, "Mommmmmmy, Miss Gail taught me!"

This is just one of the many extremely advanced concepts Miss Gail and Miss Jessica have taught our daughter.  My daughter and the things she learns every day at Hickory Hill continue to "WOW" us!

Thank you!

Meleah has been going to Hickory Hill since she was two years old. Last week she told me that she wanted to learn how to read like her older brother. I told her that she would learn next year in Kindergarten, but that we could get started on a beginner book.

I was blown away. With only a little help from me she was able to read the whole book right then and there. She knew every letter of the alphabet, the sounds they make, long and short vowel sounds, and she was able to string the sounds together and make words.

Now, I knew my little girl was a smart cookie, but I didn't realize how much the teachers at Hickory Hill had been teaching her. She's learned about holidays, history, art, music and how to socialize. But she has also gotten a huge academic head-start on reading, a part of her development I didn't know was so far along.

She has now read me five books in a little over a week. It made me say, "Wow!" So I figured I'd send it over to you with a thanks to her teachers: Miss Laura, Miss Jody, and Miss Linda. And a thanks to the administrators who have set up a great program.

Dan
